A struggling California farmer (Lorne Greene) resigns himself to being dominated by his ailing wife (Louise Latham). One day a free-spirited young woman (Julie Sommars) and her eight-year-old son show up at his ranch. He hires her to help around the house, and their presence begins to change his life.
