The made-for-television movie Strangers: The Story of a Mother and a Daughter concerns a bitter New England widow (Bette Davis, won an Emmy for her performance) who is upset about the unexpected return of her estranged daughter (Gena Rowlands). The two women attempt to repair their relationship when the daughter is diagnosed with cancer. Ford Rainey, Donald Moffat, Whit Bissell and Royal Dano also appear.
