Tension mounts between the young Franz Schubert (Al Bano) and his pupil, the Hungarian Countess Anna Rostkov (Romina Power). Their romantic flight is broken when her jealous fiancé challenges the composer to a duel. It is an unofficial remake of the 1933 film Gently My Songs Entreat by Willi Forst.
